images (3)The ongoing rivalry between Apple and Samsung continues to split the opinions of consumers in the mobile phone industry. It is no doubt the biggest rivalry in the industry, as both companies battle to become a dominant force in the global smartphone market.

Of course, Apple is well known for changing the face of the mobile phone industry thanks to the original iPhone model which first hit the market back into 2007. This device changed the way we use our mobile phones forever, bringing touchscreen, web browsing and multimedia experiences which had never been seen on a mobile phone before. The current version is of course the iPhone 5, which remains one of the most popular smartphone models on the market.

However, over the last couple of years its South Korea based rival, Samsung has gained a considerable lead in market share over the California based technology giant. Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S range is now among the most popular brands in the high-end smartphone market, but the company also dominates the phablet niche thanks to its innovative Galaxy Note series, alongside clocking up huge sales volumes of its entry level and mid range Android devices, unlike Apple which concentrates solely on premium smartphones. It is well known that one of the biggest selling points of the iPhone series of its ease of use. With the simple layout and superior integration of native applications being one of the consumers’ favourite attributes of the iPhone brand. However, Phones Review has recently reported on a survey conducted by Siegel+Gale  which found that the majority of the 400 participants found Samsung Galaxy devices easier to use. The website reports that this is thanks largely to attributes like the wider compatibility with third party accessories, and the ease of transferring files between Android devices from different manufacturers. As ease of use is seen as one of Apple’s strong points, this certainly goes to show that Samsung deserves its place as the number one mobile phone manufacturer in the world.

Of course, Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy S4 later this month, and there are rumours of multiple iPhones hitting the market in 2013 so we can only expect competition between the two companies to hot up.
